Sonrise Respite Program

Lake Deaton UMC is blessed to provide our “Sonrise” Respite program. This ministry provides fun, fellowship and stimulation for people who have memory loss due to Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, dementia, stroke or other cognitive mental deficiencies.

We meet every Monday from 10 am – 2 pm in classrooms 5 & 6.

Please click here to see an informational video about this ministry!

A hot lunch is served, all precautions have been taken for the safety of volunteers and participants.

SonRise Respite's Purpose

The purpose of the program is to provide socialization, stimulation, (plus a lot of FUN) for those who struggle with memory problems due to: Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, dementia, stroke or other cognitive mental deficiencies, AND to offer some personal time for care givers.

Trained professionals and volunteers provide supervision, lead, and participate in activities to encourage building interactive and caring relationships. Activities include arts and crafts, music and dance, sports and games, exercise, and service projects. The program also offers an opportunity for care givers to join in the activities, if they wish, or to spend the time pursuing personal interests, in rest time to take a ‘respite’ break from their care-giving responsibilities.

The daily fee is $40 and includes lunch and all materials. If you know of anyone who would like to volunteer, might be interested in, or would benefit from our program, please contact Jan McCoy, Director by clicking here or calling 321-501-6673.

Please be in prayer for this amazing ministry.
