  • Our First Time Guest Center Volunteers provide a warm welcome to our first time guests as they enter the church building.  They are there to show guests radical hospitality, deliver a small gift and to answer any questions. Volunteers should plan to arrive 30 minutes before their desired service and plan to stay at the guest station until just after the service has started.

  • The Coffee and Cookie team is responsible for ensuring Coffee and Cookies are available at the Refreshment Counter before and after services.  Volunteers are usually assigned once a month before and after their desired service.  We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, who can restock the cookie tray and keep the coffee flowing. Currently our needs are for volunteers to serve on Saturday night - and Sunday before and after the 10:30 service.

  • Our First Time Guest Team provides a warm welcome to first time guests to Lake Deaton by delivering a special gift to their home.  Volunteers must provide their own transportation and navigation to guests home.  Training is provided.  Volunteers usually only serve once a month. There is no physical contact with guests, and volunteers do not enter guest homes.  Volunteers do not need to attend in-person services in order to participate.

  • Our Outdoor Greeters, also known as Umbrella Cheer because of the umbrellas that they carry, interact warmly with congregants and the public as they make their way into the building.  Volunteers greet people as they are being dropped off and assist those exiting their vehicles in the handicapped spots.  This can include opening doors, assisting with walkers and, of course, providing umbrella service as needed.  Volunteers on this team can serve weekly to once a month.

  • Greeters are assigned to a church entrance, arriving 30 minutes before the service starts.  Greeters should have a sense of radical hospitality and service to others.  A warm smile, friendly hello and the ability to help when questions are asked are a must.  Training is provided for new greeters, in the form of mentoring with seasoned greeters.

Our 9am lobby greeter team is currently full.  Please consider volunteering in other areas.  Thank you.

  • The Connection Data Team meets each Monday at 1:30 at the Lake Deaton church office, inputting the information that was collected during the weekend services from connection cards and online forms.  Volunteers will be trained on how to input the data into the computer.  Team members serve two times per month for approximately one hour each time.

  • ReConnect Team members "reconnect" our inactive church members into the life of the church.  This is done with phone calls, emails and cards.  Communications will first and foremost be focused on expressing to members that they have been missed in worship, and that it is our desire to help connect them with support if they are in need of assistance from the Congregational Care department.  In addition, ReConnection team members will help facilitate connections to other church programming, service and/or congregational care offerings.

Team members should plan to be available approximately 1 hour weekly to serve on the ReConnection team.  This could include time to make up to 4 phone calls per week, with the potential for follow up calls if you have to leave messages for those who do not answer on the first call.  After all calls are made, a short online report must be competed to share the results of each conversation with our staff so calls can be documented and acted upon.
