Care

We believe that meeting the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of our church and neighbors is what showing the love of Christ in community is all about. At Lake Deaton UMC we have Congregational Care Ministers and Stephen Ministers devoted to the care of persons, and several other ministries to serve our community:

  • Prayer Quilts
  • Prayer Shawls
  • Care Cards (sending get well cards, sympathy, and/or encouragement cards
  • Care Calling (regular connecting with our members by phone)
  • Health and Wellbeing workshops for our community
  • Prayer Groups and Prayer Room

Our goal is to facilitate prayer groups to meet at home or in our building, and host Centering Prayer or Healing services. You can learn more about these prayer-focused groups by emailing Kris Shonewolf circleemail

If you have a prayer request please visit our prayer page

  • Prayer Quilts and Prayer Shawls

A group of volunteers gather consistently to create a prayer quilt, which is placed in the sanctuary. Our congregants are encouraged to come forward to tie knots on the threads and pray for comfort and healing for the designated person. The same concept is used for prayer shawls which are placed on the altar.  The shawls are prayed over before they are distributed to those in need of prayer and encouragement.

  • Congregational Care

It is important for us to follow up when a member of our community needs us to come alongside them. In case of a death or hospitalization of a loved one or if you are going through a difficult time, let us know so a Congregational Care Minister or Stephen Minister can support you through this time.
